Contextual and Thesis 3 (CTS 3)
The aim of this unit was to allow me to develop a broader knowledge / understanding of theoretical and cultural ideas. To achieve this I had to contextualise aspects of art and social theory. Engaging in critical reading, research methods, writing workshops and further study related to key concepts, debates and theories.
Deciding on a three column grid allowed me to better split up different types of information more effectively, while giving images the full with of the page to better break up the text.
Exploring the themes of constant change, instability and imperfection. This project is looking to demonstrate how society is constantly changing and evolving. Some stages present themselves to be more flat, fairer and more desirable but things are always changing and nothing is never perfect. The wooden pillars represent the pillars of society and the mechanism beneath represents how social change can transform society. Coating the model in a white paint I wanted to convey the model as not having an identity, not allowing it to be tied to one society but to represent all of them. Also by removing the draw of looks this instead allows the viewer to fully embrace the function of the model.
